High Calcium Dessert Recipe

Calcium is an essential mineral that is important for many functions in the body. It is necessary for the proper development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth, as well as for proper muscle function, nerve function, and blood clotting. This simple blueberry custard pudding recipe, which is high in calcium, can help you receive the required calcium to keep your body and bones healthy. All you need for this recipe is the following:

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup reduced-fat milk

  • 13fl oz can light evaporated milk

  • 2 tablespoons custard powder

  • ¹⁄³ cup sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

  • ²⁄³ cup reduced-fat plain yogurt

  • 1¹⁄³ cups frozen blueberries

RECIPE

  1. Place both milks, custard powder, sugar, and vanilla bean paste in a bowl, then whisk them to combine. 

  2. Transfer mixture to a saucepan and cook, constantly stirring, over medium heat for 5 minutes or until thickened.

  3. Remove the pan from heat and allow the custard to cool slightly. Add half the yogurt and stir to combine.

  4. Divide three-quarters of the blueberries among six serving glasses. Pour over half the custard, then sprinkle over the remaining berries, and top it off with the remaining custard. 

  5. Chill glasses in the fridge for at least an hour or until the custard is set.

  6. When ready to serve, remove from fridge and serve topped with remaining yogurt.

This dessert will satisfy your sweet tooth and your calcium needs. It only takes a total of 10-15 minutes to prepare, with an additional hour to chill and set.
