Providers
Problem: Women Are Delaying Evaluations of their Pain
How Providers Can Be Part of the Solution:
Encourage patients to seek evaluations early, so that they can better understand their current state and develop a plan to maintain optimal mobility and overall health.
How Can We Combat the Issues Associated with Chronic Pain Caused by Arthritis?
The best way to slow the progression of chronic arthritis pain is to evaluate it as early as possible. Understanding your level of degeneration in relation to your pain level equips you with the necessary information to manage your symptoms and prolong your mobility.
A correct diagnosis and customized treatment plan removes the unknowns and provides ways for patients to actively engage in their own care.
Given the increasing osteoarthritis prevalence in middle aged people (50 to 65), the importance of early evaluation is critical. By pushing evaluations even further forward, we can better encourage the positive factors that reduce the risks of developing a chronic pain syndrome, such as exercise and goal setting, optimism, self-efficacy, motivation, confidence, and a sense of belonging to a community of similar patients.
