With the COVID-19 pandemic coming to an end, it is time to get back out there and enjoy outdoor activities with friends and family. Your bones and joints will thank you if you get outside for walks or jogs, but why not try something more fun or exciting?
The City of Pittsburgh is home to several different courses that host a unique, fun sport known as disc golf. Disc golf is a sport that requires players to throw a frisbee-like plastic disc at a sphere-shaped target, in an attempt to get it to land inside the target. If you are familiar with the rules of golf, this will be an easy game to pick up, as disc-golf rules are nearly identical. Disc-golf courses usually have nine or eighteen holes (targets), and players compete for the lowest score.
This game is not a very strenuous one, as players simply have to toss the disc and walk from target to target. However, in most cases, these targets are a fair distance from one another. This distance is typically picturesque and enables a fun cardio exercise between targets.
One of the most popular and accessible in Pittsburgh is located right in the heart of Oakland, at Schenley Park. Located near the skating rink, this mile long course is mostly contained in a wooded area of the park. Some of the targets are located in more open areas, and display an incredible view of the Pittsburgh skyline.
