Bone and Joint Center Team Honored with Center of Excellence Designation
The AMD3 Foundation is proud to announce that the Bone and Joint Center at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital has been recognized as a UPMC Health Plan Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Center of Excellence.
This UPMC Health Plan program recognizes surgical facilities and orthopedic surgeons that demonstrate high-quality outcomes, low complication rates, and the best patient experience for UPMC Health Plan members in need of joint replacement surgery.
Not only did the facility receive this honor, but each doctor on the care team has been recognized as a surgeon of excellence as well.
Dr. DiGioia says that the recognition ties closely to his team’s commitment to the Patient Centered Value System (PCVS), an approach that puts the patient and their family’s experience at the forefront of all care provision.
“It’s a testament all the work that we have been doing here,” he says. “Perhaps more so, it is what we’ve learned through the Patient Centered Value System can be exported and scaled at other hospitals as well.”
He credits this shared vision of patient-centered care in a coordinated team environment among providers and frontline staff alike that extends outside the walls of the hospital.
“It is a team effort and continues to be a team effort,” he says. “That’s why we can deliver such high-quality outcomes in Western Pennsylvania.”
