To connect our community to the hot topics in orthopedic care, we revamped our Bone and Joint Health series with key information for both local community members and care providers alike.

Attendees can get “hip” about arthritis by learning what they “knee’d” to know about same day or one-night stay hip and knee replacement.

Each Bone and Joint Health Series event features a panel of experts, who cover different aspects of knee and hip arthritis, non-operative and operative treatment options, one night stay after joint surgery, same-day discharge after joint surgery, and how to prevent arthritis and prepare for surgery if needed.

Example presentations include:

  • What You Need to Know About Arthritis – Dr. Tony DiGioia

  • Surgical Treatments for Hip and Knee Arthritis and Adverse Events – Dr. Anton Plakseychuk

  • Rapid Recovery After Total Joint Replacement – Dr. Michael O’Malley

  • Gender-Specific Care for Hip and Knee Arthritis and Total Joint Replacement (TJR) – Dr. Tony DiGioia

After the talk, attendees ask their lingering questions about arthritis during the discussion panel, and hear perspectives and advice from the expert doctors, nurses, and physical therapists.

To close out the day, participants meet the experts one on one to learn more about various elements of the process, including Prevention and Preparation, The Hospital Experience, Pre-hab and Rehab, and Pain Management.

Representatives from over 10 Pittsburgh organizations and businesses also attended to highlight physical therapy options, showcase implant samples, and discuss other topics related to bone and joint health.
